Petronius is an oil platform located in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 130 miles southeast of New Orleans. It is owned and operated by Chevron Corporation and is one of the tallest structures in the world, standing at a height of 2,001 feet.
The platform was discovered in 1995 and began production in 2000. It has the capacity to produce up to 60,000 barrels of oil and 100 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Petronius is a semi-submersible platform, meaning it is partially submerged in the water to provide stability and support for drilling operations. It is equipped with top drive drilling systems, advanced production facilities, and living quarters for workers.
Despite its massive size and production capacity, Petronius has faced several challenges, including hurricanes and drilling complications. However, it continues to operate successfully and play a significant role in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico.
